Photobook festival in the city of Chandigarh

India’s first photobooks festival “Kitab“concluded its second edition in the beautiful city of Chandigarh which is known for its architecture and green spaces. It’s great to be part of this unique event with my two latest books Syria the War Within and Refuge. I guess one of the beauties with photobooks they do connect people from all over the world…

The lecture will highlight my last two books on the conflict in Syria, the work behind and how it is to work in what is considered the most dangerous country for journalist, the aftermath of war and refugee crises in Europe.

In the book Syria: The War Within, Olof Jarlbro depicted the war in Syria from the inside. After that it was important to follow the refugee wave. It took him to Bulgaria, where thousands of Syrian refugees have fled.

– They’ve already paid several hundred dollars to cross the border. Then they put them in a form of detention in Bulgaria. There will be so-called lawyers who say that either you get to go to the closed camp where you can be seated in six months. Or do you pay me a few hundred euros to get you to go to the open camp in Sofia, says Olof Jarlbro… –Isabelle Beckman City Skåne.

Exhibition Syria -The War Within at Lunds University, Sweden.

The exhibition is part of an international event called”48H of Syria” with the aim to spread knowledge about the situation in Syria today. The event is organised by Lunds University and the Centrum for Middle Eastern Studies.

Opening of exhibition December 5 / 15.00 in the foyer of Language and Literature Centrum at Lunds University.
